7 - INSTRUCTORS

 

 

· All Instructors must be approved by the CFI before instructing takes place

 

· All instructors are responsible for their own 3 and 5 year checks – you will not receive a reminder from the BGA.

 

· All instructors are responsible for their own currency.

 

· Instructors are responsible for briefing early solo pilots before they fly.

 

· When briefing early cross country attempts, instructors are responsible to ensure that the early pilot has a good understanding of airspace, NOTAMs of the day, is carrying a moving map and knows how to use it.

 

You will be reminded by the BGA for your annual revalidation – for this you need to fill in the form from the office or from your CFI and email/send to the CFI who will renew you provided that you have the required hours. (Requirements below)

 

Basic instructors and IFPs need an annual check flight with an authorised instructor annually.

 

 

 

Basic Instructor and IFP revalidation requirements:

 

Revalidation (ratings lapse 12 months after date of issue unless revalidated)

Recommendation for revalidation to the BGA from the CFI based on

;

· At least 15 hours P1 sailplane and/or SLMG in the 12 months previous to the date of

revalidation of which at least 10

hours or 20 launches in a glider

and/or SLMG are

instructing, and;

 

· Annual standardisation/check flyingand a refresher within 5 years of the date of ravididation

 

 

 

Full Cat Instructor, Ass Cat Instructor revalidation requirements:

 

Revalidation (ratings lapse after 12 months unless revalidated):

Recommendation for revalidation to the BGA from the CFI based on any two of

 

· At least 15 hours P1 sailplane and/or SLMG in the 12 months previous to the date of

revalidation of which at least 10 hours or 20 launches in a glider and/or SLMG are instructing

 

· A refresher within 5 years of the date of revalidation

 

· Assessment by a BGA Regional Examiner

or BGA FIE (signed entry in the instructors logbook)
